Baby Monitor Movement
When a baby becomes part of a family, every effort is made to assure that the newborn is monitored and safe during it’s first few weeks at home. There are many unknowns with a newborn and a parent that is able to use a baby monitor movement system finds that this extra level of safety is often reassuring and beneficial.
The baby monitor movement system alerts parents if a baby stops moving for twenty seconds. When a newborn sleeps they are constantly moving. It is not always visible to parents, but with this movement is monitored by the system. When a baby’s movement completely stops it can mean that the baby has stopped breathing and aid is needed immediately. The baby breathing monitor system sends an alert to the parents so that they can quickly attend to the infant and provide the needed assistance.
Many of the systems are made with sensor pads that fit under the crib mattress. These sensors are extremely delicate and detect any change in the baby’s movement. The alarm can be set to alert parents when the baby is not moving at all, or is moving a lot.
As manufacturers continue to develop more sensitive equipment, the baby monitor movement systems are becoming highly advanced pieces of equipment that are very important for new parents. Many of the digitalized systems provide necessary information to the parent if there is movement in the nursery. This allows a parent to be aware if a sibling is in the nursery when the baby is sleeping.
Many of the baby breathing monitors contain features that make them an asset in the nursery. Some of the best baby monitors contain internal night lights which provide light even when the electricity has gone out. These monitors have battery back-ups included in the transmission unit of the monitor. Some of the baby monitors provide digital information regarding the temperature in the room and an alert system in the room that lights up when an event occurs.
Parents are provided receiving units that are handheld baby monitor. Some of the units are made to sit on a counter or table. These units allow a parent to monitor their infant easily when they are eating dinner or reading. Other monitoring systems provide mobile receivers that clip on the clothing of the parent. These units receive clear audio transmissions from as far away as four hundred feet.
Manufacturers who have developed baby monitors that can be used with infants who are crawling have designed monitors that do not have cords and are run by cellular batteries. The baby intercom can be placed anywhere in the nursery and provide the same alarms and alerts as those monitors that sit next to the crib. These monitors are especially helpful in rooms where the crib may be away from a table or surface.
The extra level of protection provided by the baby monitor movement and baby breathing monitor system is an invaluable aid to parents of newborns. The anxiety that many new parents feel regarding the safety of the newborn when they are asleep is removed when they know that an alarm will sound if the baby stops moving or breathing. This allows parents to get the kind of rest that they need to be alert when they are attending to the baby.

Wonderful monitor!!!, May 16, 2004
This monitor is the #1 product that I think any new parent should have! When my daughter was first born, I was awake ALL NIGHT!!!! Not because she was, but because I was constantly checking to see if she was breathing! I got this monitor and used it in her bassinet for 4 weeks until we moved her to her crib where it is now. I placed weights in the crib, all sorts of objects to test it out and NOT ONCE has it gone off due to a faulty product. Twice it did go off when she was in the crib, but that is because she scootched herself into the corner of her crib and the sensor could no longer sence her breathing. The sound monitor also works great…never had a problem
with it..the sound is crystal clear! So, if you want to sleep easy, this is a great product. As for the other reviews with negative feedback, they should have returned it and gotten a new one. This product is FANTASTIC!!!

If someone told me I could buy only one thing for my newborn it would be this monitor! This is my first child and it just so happened that he was born 3 weeks early and weighed only 5 1/2 pounds when we brought him home. He would never cry or make any noise at all which scared me even more because a “SOUND” only monitor would tell me nothing. I received this monitor as a baby shower gift and I must say I wondered if it would do everything it promised. I can honestly say that it did everything it said PLUS!!!! I have never had a false alarm and I get great audio. The best thing is that I am comfortable enough to sleep at night between feedings. The monitor makes a little “TIC” sound each time your baby breaths. You can turn the “TIC” off if you wish but my husband and I love to hear it. At first it is a little wierd but after a few nights you don’t think about it, you just sleep like before you had a baby

I would give this 10 stars if I could! I have twin boys born 10 weeks early at 30 weeks. After 38 days in the NICU, it was time to take them home. No hospital monitors for the first time.
One of my boys had had an apnea attack just 5 days before taking him home. The doctors were confident, it was time to go home and no monitors were needed. They say after 5 days, it ’shouldn’t’ happen again (this is speaking of apnea due to prematurely only) It was terrifying to think one of my babies could stop breathing (I had seen them do it so many times in the hospital, so this wasn’t just normal new Mom worry)
I tested ALL scenarios for failure. Anything in the room that could seem like motion, the other bassinet being too close, we did it all. They worked perfectly. I had such little sleep in the beginning, but thankfully it wasn’t due to my worry about them breathing. We used these both in bassinettes, and now in their cribs. I can’t image why someone wouldn’t have one of these with a new baby.
My boys are 7 months old and I still used them. The sound portion also works great. I would sell all my other baby stuff to keep this item. This is nothing like peace of mind.

We bought this product thinking it would give us a little extra piece of mind at night so we wouldn’t worry about SIDS as much. The alarm went off several times when our baby was about a month old. At first we thought it was malfunctining because our son always seemed fine when we checked on him. One night the sensor alarm sounded and we ran over to check on him and he was not breathing. We gently shook him and he woke and took a huge gasp of air in. It terrified us– Turns out he was waking up from apneic episodes when the alarm went off -We called our pediatrician, who ordered a pneumogram -
Our son ended up having over 44 episodes of sleep apnea during the pneumogram ranging from 12-18 seconds in a ten hour period. He also had one lasting more than 27 seconds– which is very scary. Although they consider anything under 20 seconds “normal”, his having 44 episodes was considered quite excessive. So our Angelcare sensorpad WAS accurately detecting his sleep apnea – it was catching the episodes that went 20 seconds or longer. I believe that it saved him from possibly becoming a victim to SIDS.
Our pediatrician enrolled our son in the infant monitoring program and he was placed on a portable heart/lung monitor until he was 4 months old. Every night we kept BOTH alarms on– the hospital grade portable heart and lung monitor, as well as the Angelcare sensor monitor. The respiration light on the hospital monitor flashed AT THE SAME TIME as the Angelcare monitor– every night I checked it and every night the lights flashed at the same time. This monitor is a GODSEND. Even my son’s pulmonologist was impressed when I told him the story. Our son is now 4 1/2 months old and is off the hospital grade heart/lung monitor. Our Angelcare sensor lets us sleep soundly at night knowing that he is okay.
Not only does the sensor pad work, but it is portable. We take it with us when we go on overnight trips – we have used it in friends’ cribs that we were using on trips, as well as our own Pack N Play. It also has a sound system with two monitors, which comes in VERY handy.
I have told everyone I know with children about this monitor– it works and is a must have for anyone having a baby!
